Mexicali-San Felipe road since quake

We are planning a trip to San Felipe this week. Any news on the road conditions from Mexicali to San Felipe?

Umm, in this forum...

this was posted yesterday:

We left San Felipe yesterday, crossed at the East Crossing in 31 minutes at about 4:00 P.M. There is road damage but very passable. There is a relief center in La Puerta. We dropped off our left over water and food from the trip. I wish we had more to give. If any of you are going down it is on the west side of the highway next to the fire station. They can take the usual relief supplies. I'm sure shovels, gloves, boots and 5 gallon buckets would be a great thing also.

Drove home yesterday (Sat. 4/10) to San Diego from South San Felipe via Mexicali East and little or no problem traveling.

A few cracks in the highway and larger ones clearly marked. Lots of damage in the Maquiladora area of Mexicali and tent cities in La Puerta and Rio Hardy area. Lots of Police on the highway in populated areas keeping the speed safe.

Haven't had a bad trip yet....

We also came back from San Felipe on Sunday the 11th. Road is in very good shape. Areas that had damage were very well marked and quite a few repairs were done. We too crossed the East border in 30 minutes.
Don't hesitate to go - roads are decent and gas stations are open. Please stop at the relief center in Colonia de la Puerta. Look for the fire station on the West side of Hwy. 5 at KM36. They told us they need food more than anything. also of use is bottled water, diapers, tarps, and tents. We were able to donate cash on the way down, but they wouldn't take it on the way back to the states.
