1 inch foam
can anybody tell me how they adhere foam to concrete block construction, i want to do it myself. I understand that over this goes a chicken wire type
mesh for the stucco, this gets applied with nails and a washer type fittting. any photos during your construction appreciated, and yes i will be
getting a how-to book just thought with all the talented Nomads out there I would ask.

hey dan, i think with most of that foam construction there is no concrete block involved...it's just FOAM..and wire...and stucco..it's a very durable
type construction but is unique from the concrete block...i've seen complete foam houses here and down south...foam only..and wire..and stucco..
dyslexia is never having to say you\'re yrros.

LongLegsinLaPaz might be able to help with part of your question. She has a stucco'ed-over foam block house (which, incidentally, is not just
foam--the blocks have vertical cement and rebar cores). She has photos of the construction.
I'm sure somebody here can tell you if a construction adhesive will bond the foam board to the concrete block, but think about a vapor barrier over
the foam and below the stucco.

foam really works for insulation but
it seems to develop small cracks all over the walls
it must flex ALOT

i have been doing this for years.
we GLUE foam pop outs to CMU using a specialized mas adhesive which does not eat the foam. once it's on it won't come off but you have to have a very
clean power washed surface 1st.
then you have to have fibermesh in the stucco good luck getting that in mexico...

You can't nail the foam to block, but in most cases the adhesive should hold the foam fine or if you wanted you could get some of the new screws that
will go into cement and block. You would have to pre drill and use a plastic disc with the screw.
Bob mentioned that the stucco cracks alot. I won't if you take some extra steps. Reinforce the joints with fiberglass tape. Use a a drip screed on
the bottom of the foam and use corner wire moulding to protect the corners.

Liquid Nails will glue anything to anything...forever. You don't need much....just a few tabs.
