i found him as i was walking out of the water from a swim. the tide was very low and it was about 1 foot deep. i just noticed his shape more than
color against all of the round cobblestones and when i picked it up he had a passenger.

the little guy didn't like being out of the water. it was moving noticeably
but i didn't consider it was being eaten....

Shari are you a marine biologist? i though i read that on your page. what to they eat? how long can they stay out of water? I can google this but I am

Nope, not a marine biologist...was never good enough at math!! I studied whale
behavior and am a naturalist...(nude sunbather!!!:bounce...kidding...it's just
that that brittle star is very close to the big guys mouth!!!

Good eye Woody!! I don't think the brittle star is being eaten. When brittle stars congregate, normally in the spring, they get on EVERYTHING. Here
they are on a red starfish and an anemone:
carpe diem!

another thought is that the brittle is just getting the leftovers??? cleaning up the crumbs??
