Flower Surprise

Early this morning I decided to find a flower in the back yard that would cooperate with me practicing with my camera.

Problem is that the flower I wanted to practice with was not open yet----

I love these flowers because they are tough characters---they grow in terrible soil and with little water--- it is so difficult to get anything to grow here in the sand dunes on the cold windy side of Baja

So, I returned a little later when the sun was bright to see what I could do---and much to my surprise, the flower had another visitor.

and just one not yet opened.

Thanks for looking

Diana

Gorgeous! My fave is the second bee shot. Something about the lines of the flower and the lines of the bee. Very appealing. Thanks for sharing!

I like the first one due to the dew drop!!!
There are so many different shades of these flowers around and everyone throws out clumps of them because they spread so quickly...I got 3 different coloured ones from Bajaboys garbage can.

I like best the colors in the last picture.

Anyone know what type of flower this is?

Thanks----

While not as wet in the mornings as a week ago, there is still plenty of dew around.

I am determined to get better bee shots and I really am afraid of the little characters. I love the designs in these flowers.

Nena, as usual, I don't have a clue---if we had bought some, I might know.

But they are definitely my kind of plant---like all types of geraniums and ice plant----just plop them in the sand and they grow and are pretty to look at. Don't need a green thumb for these.

They're some type of Gazania I think...South African natives(from which Geraniums, Aloes, and many Iceplants are from as well). Asuncion has a similar climate so good match!

Thanks---I have a Canon 40D and a fairly new macro lens that I am still learning how to use. I just hope those bees staying focused on their job!

Mexitron, Thanks---I now remember the name gazania---I had some as a ground cover many years ago that looked similar to these.
