6 hour tour today ????
Should have gone where Bob & Susan went. But it was fun just being out dragging lures along the coast line then returned 4miles out side hoping
for a dorado. Had one nice blind strike outside but wasn't able to see what it was. Caught 10 or so dinks I released.
Played with the dolphin for awhile
Nice little palapas that the hotel put up for their guest on a small cove next to Deadmans Beach. But the beach has a lot of junk on it. which
probably means flies.
here's Deadmans and the cove to the right is where the palapas are.
This guy had a camp on Deadmans and the beach is cleaner.

Frank, The Posad de Las Flories aka Hotel Punta Chivato. Long slow drive in and their rooms start around $150 to $600. What a rip! The little
restaurant here now has rooms or will shortly and I think they're around $50. Check out Bob & Susan's place http://mulege.vacau.com/index123.htm
Closer to the hwy and you'll be pampered.

Well, Russ, you should have gone out with us. We went to Tortuga and were on the Baqueta and Yellowtail hole thinking that they would be pretty deep
with the water temps the way they are now. You never know exactly what you are going to find, but there are certain places that do attract fish and
we ended up catching 4 sailfish, 3 nice Marlin and all on the dropper loop in 600 feet of water and a big Thresher Shark to top it all off. Never did
find the Yellowtail, but I guess it would have to be considered a pretty good day, just an unusual way to go after billfish. They were probably
feeding on the Mackeral who were close to the bottom.

What kind of wench do you use to fish 600+' ? I just can't imagine dropping a live bait down that deep. Hell my downrigger cable's only 500'. And
that's twice normal. 7 bill fish and a thresher, now that is a kickass day!

Actually, we were using 12-16 oz weights on a dropper loop, live bait, and hoping to find yellowtail or Baqueta and we kept getting hit on the drop.
As soon as the fish hit the bait, the line started coming up for the surface, which is normal behavior for a billfish. Kinda funny that we thought
the billfish were a nuisance, because we had our heart set on Yellowtail or Baqueta. When the Thresher Shark hit, it was very close to the bottom and
at first we thought we might have a really big grouper as it peeled the drags on Rigo's reel and then started dragging us all over the ocean. We
really expected to get rocked, but instead it turned into a pulling match and small circles. At one point, the line got tangled with another line and
we had to clear that tangle before we could keep coming up. The hook was deep in the mouth and still did not cut on his teeth. Just a really lucky
happening.
You are right, it is not a lot of fun to crank up fish from over 600 feet, and only happens when that is the only game in town. Earlier in the
year, I drug up a 40 lb. yellowtail from that depth and swore that I would never do it again, but that threat did not last too long.
