Rosarito police commander killed

Baja California prosecutors say in a statement Wednesday that state police commander Antonio Sanchez and another officer where in an unmarked car
outside the state police office in Tijuana when assailants drove up and opened fire.

El subprocurador de Justicia en Rosarito, Rafael González, dio a conocer que horas antes de que el comandante Antonio Sánchez fuera asesinado, agentes
ministeriales localizaron a 23 aspirantes a indocumentados en una casa localizada en el kilómetro 45.5 de la carretera libre a Ensenada.
Dijo que el propietario de vivienda acudió a la Policía Ministerial a interponer una denuncia toda vez que la persona que cuida su casa le indico que
había gente en su interior.
Detalló que al principio se creía que se trataba de un robo pero los agentes encontraron en el interior de la vivienda a 21 hombres y una mujer
procedentes de varios estados del País que indicaron que pagarían 5 mil dólares por cruzar a los Estados Unidos de ilegales.
Además se localizaron recipientes con gasolina y chalecos salvavidas.
El funcionario mencionó que las personas fueron remitidas a las autoridades federales y que justo cuando se registró el ataque donde perdiera la vida
Sanchez Vasquez, estaba por concluir la turnación.
Agrego que la corporación no había recibido amenazas, por ello el hallazgo de los candidatos a indocumentados es la principal linea de investigación
sobre los hechos violentos ocurridos la noche de ayer.

El tráfico de personas podría ser el móvil del asesinato del comandante de la Policía Ministerial en Playas de Rosarito, Antonio Sánchez Vásquez,
durante un ataque perpetrado por sujetos que dejaron otro agente herido de gravedad.
Es la principal línea de investigación, confirmó el procurador de Justicia del estado a medios de comunicación de Mexicali.
Cerca de la medianoche del martes, sujetos que viajaban en una camioneta dispararon con armas largas hacia la comandancia policíaca rosaritense, sin
que se les pudiera detener.
El comandante quedó herido y más tarde falleció en las instalaciones de la Cruz Roja, en tanto que el otro agente lesionado sigue en el hospital.
Por su parte, el subprocurador de Justicia en Playas de Rosarito, Rafael González, detalló que unas horas antes la Policía Ministerial había
localizado en una casa ubicada en la carretera libre a Ensenada a un grupo de 22 personas de diferentes entidades que esperaban para ser trasladadas
vía marítima a Estados Unidos.
Eran una mujer y el resto hombres que refirieron que pagarían 5 mil dólares para que se les trasladara al vecino país.
El subprocurador explicó que el ataque ocurrió mientras se llevaba a cabo la turnación de los migrantes.

They aren't going to brutalize foreigners. If the drug profits slow down they will kidnap and extort your money (may even offer a monthly payment
plan to you that you can't refuse) to make up the difference. That's not being brutalized- it't the cartel's way of letting you know you are being
treated just like any other Mexican. Silly.

ROSARITO BEACH — A state police commander in Rosarito Beach was shot to death Tuesday night, hours after his agents had found 23 migrants who told
authorities they were going to be smuggled to the United States for $5,000 apiece.
José Antonio Sánchez Velásquez was attacked by armed assailants about 10:30 p.m. outside his office on Boulevard Popotla south of downtown. Another
agent was injured in the attack; he was being treated at a hospital in Tijuana, the Baja California Attorney General’s Office reported Wednesday.
The state’s attorney general, Rommel Moreno, said investigators are looking into whether the commander was killed by smugglers as a result of the
discovery of the migrants. They were staying inside a private residence whose owner was away. The house was along the free road to Ensenada, near the
community of Primo Tapia.
Moreno didn’t specify how the migrants were to be transported, but the area has increasingly been used as a staging site for maritime smuggling.

The American killed two weeks ago had two pangas that were modified for human transport. A link to this assassination and the same staging area?
This illegal activity is very close to the JPGE office on Popotla Blvd. The sinaloa's are moving their families here in huge numbers. Three kids
I've met in the last month, plus a nice girl now dating my nephew- are all sinaloa cartel kids playing on the beach, growing up and going to school. I
think they try to emulate "the Godfather" mafia lifestyle- but they can only deliver on "Scarface." The men move around for safety and the family is
in constant motion. Can you imagine how bad that would suck all your childhood. Really well behaved and nice kids I would like to add. We let them
and their mothers know our house is a safe place for them if they need it. They're just kids. And don't think even the younger kids don't know what
is going on. They do. The older ones are fairly open. When it came up in conversation once the kid looked at me for a reaction to being Sinaloa. All
I could come up with was "well they do work closely with the government and our family loves Rosarito and Mexico". lol

Very nice sentiment, but now you're involved. Yeah, just kids - that's the really rotten part of a cartel "family man" isn't it - you put your entire
family - your CHILDREN - in harm's way. God help us.

Very naive. I've always been involved- if you live here full-time you have been too. Ever wonder why absolutely no one (including your own family)
will ask what you do for a living? Doesn't even make the top ten conversations. Everyone living in Mexico has a connection to a corrupt policeman,
gov't official, a pollero or a cartel- whether they know and accept it or not. It permeates Mexican society and is part of the social fabric of
Mexico and I see no sign of that changing. My family has deep roots in Rosarito and along with that history come ties to all the above. It is what it
is. The kids don't differentiate between the different cartels when they play- they all play together and I'm sure that's the way their family wants
it. The one we know can come here if some creep on the beach gives them a problem (especially the younger girls). Every father appreciates that and
we worry more that they will thank us with a Kilo than hurt us. One man did ask if there was anything he could do for us- we told him that we
appreciated the offer but we really just want to be left alone in that respect. He liked that.
