road south of Mexicali
Just did an El Centro Costco/Walmart run. There is a detour from the turnoff to Algondones for the next 6.2 miles to Rio Hardy. It's not maintained
and is rough as heck. It about rattled my fillings out, passenger cars be careful and make sure you have a spare. Progress sure seems slow on that
section. I gotta get a Tundra like David K's

The road South from San Felipe to Gonzaga is going faster than the Algodones North to Mexicali Road -- being built by workers from Ensenada -- .
We've been gone a month and will be traveling South tomorrow. Had hoped that section was done by now.

Here it is less than 2 weeks ago, between Gonzaga Bay and Coco's Corner... It is a TACOMA (2010, 4WD, Double Cab, Off Road TRD with automatic trans.
and 'Active Traction Control'!

While they were working a 10 km. section just south of Huerfanito, the bridge at the end of pavement has no work on the far side and over the hill to
where they are working on south. This was the same place pavement ended in April as seen in photos sent in from 'stickers' and 'bbbait' (wayno).
I am wondering if this is where they found an archeological site (ancient village) I read here... and they are just avoiding it and continuing on the
other side?

It's the pits!! Most notably when those large trucks blow by you doing 40 to 50 MPH. Results - more more chips in the paint and a nice chip in the
windshield!! I pull over as far as possible when I see those dudes coming.
