Asi y Asada

This taco stand is on the lateral across from Costco right next to Cabo Cielo Mini Super. Start slowing down when you see Cabo Carts, the go cart track.
They have by far the best arrachera tacos around. I have never been able to stray from them but they also have 2 other types of beef, pork chop, fish and maybe shrimp tacos. They have a terrific salsa bar. Jim gets the beans. I go for the cole slaw and cukes with lime squeezed on them and topped with one of the delicious traditional salsas. We can always make a meal out of two tacos harina con arrachera. They are 30pesos each and worth every centavo.

There today we ran into SallySouth's daughter with her husband and their two gorgeous daughters.

I don't know Judy, we tried Asi y Asada last year and were not impressed. The tortillas were stale and we didn't find them special, especially at 30 pesos each. Maybe things have changed since them, I see that they are always busy with local Mexicans.

We go to Suzy's Loncheria frequently. We think she has great comida tipica. It is on the east end of the bump street in San Jose, across from the colegio. Also, Gorditas next door is good too. The gorditas are 10p each.

Well I guess that is why there are so many restaurants!
I have eaten at Asi y Asada at least 6 times in the last two months and have thoroughly enjoyed their arrachera and their salsa bar.
As for Suzys, I like her torta cubana but have not found her food to be particularly good. The last time we were there Jim ordered taquitos and I swear that they were frozen from Costco.
If I want comida tipica or comida corrida, I go to the municipal mercado and eat either at the stand outside the market next to the parking places or at the inside booth at the other end closest to the street.
BTW the bump street is actually Valerio Gonzalez
On Valerio just below the bus station is a seafood place, La Canoa, that has THE best shrimp ceviche I have ever had.
Ok, more drool on the keyboard.

spelling edit
