I an not so sure he is as thin as he/she is young. There are many, many coyotes out by the dump---more than we have ever seen in one spot. There are some that are obviously sick, but most of them are quite healthy looking.

I think he/she may be young because they tend to be the ones that don't run off as fast with their pack.

Thanks for the nice comments and for looking.

Is that Coyote standing on seashells or?

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

For a coyote...it's that 'natural' look.

Even if they are tame....!

Maybe in Baja they're special, but here we shoot them. Did you know that in suburban areas 90% of coyote scat is remains of felis sylvestris?

Coyotes

Interesting factoid about the cat-filled scat. Mind if I ask the source? Not the scat, we know that one.

Yes, it is at the dump it is where they dump the caracol shells.

Thanks to the people who like the photo---I have several photos of coyotes but I just liked the look on this one's face.

And yes, I know coyotes can be a problem to some people, and I certainly will not argue that one.

But I just find them very special creatures with such great survival skills, and I like to try to capture them on "film" when I can.

Thanks for looking.

I remember your other coyote photos at the dump, Diane. Very interesting wildlife studies.

Some friends from Bahia de Los Angeles visited the dump with us and renamed it Bahia Asuncion Zoo----so many coyotes, donkeys, rabbits, cows, ravens, seagulls, zoplotes, and who knows what else.

We enjoy going to the dump, especially in the early evening. Sometimes we like to just sit and watch the coyotes---no photos. We like to watch there interaction, within their family groups and between the family groups. And it is interesting to see what they choose to eat---and then there are battles between the coyotes and birds over the dumped fish.

This is one of replacement entertainments since we do not have a TV.

Love your pics Diana,
We have three distinctive packs that live near our ranchito.
The chance we take while living in the wild is the possibility of losing our domestic loved ones. It's been well documented that killing pack members only results in pups replacing them if prey will support them. Possibly Leisure World or some other sterile, isolated climate controlled community would be a better option for some, but we'll continue to take our chances :P
I wonder if Felis Sylvestris is stringy? :o
