TIJUANA CROSSING
WILL BE CROSSING OVER INTO MEXICO SOON. CAN ANYONE TELL ME WHERE AND WHEN TO LOOK FOE IHE IMMIGRATION OFFICE? WILL BE CONTINUING ON TO ENSENADA. I
HAVE BEEN TOLD I SHOULD STAY IN THE SECOND LANE FROM THE RIGHT AND LOOK FOR THE QUOTA/SENIC ROUTE AND KEEP GOING. THANKS AS ALWAYS.

Bad info. Get in the "Items to declare lane, far right. Wait for the gate to open, it will, park in the slots on the left...walk across the parking
lot to the Immigration office. Bank window is just 4 doors down...no problem.
The directions given to you before were for the road to Ensenada via Rosarito, It sounds like.....
Mexico!! Where two can live as cheaply as one.....but it costs twice as much.....

Terry28, you are so right on how to get this and it does go faster than you think. Customs/Immigration and bank all right inside this area. I was
bringing a washer and dryer back to Las Gaviotas and had to get into the declare line. I thought I would be there forever looking at all of the trucks
and cars but no so. Had my wife go get the paperwork to fill out as I was waiting for a slot to park in and she is so fast filling out stuff I had an
inspector there in my truck cutting open the box from Sears to see what we had and looking at the paperwork showing what we paid.
They charge you 16.5% on anything you bring in based on what they say it is worth or what you have as proof to show what you spent. Again, getting
your paperwork first is the thing to do and then get into line to proceed to bank window to pay, as then you use this to complete your paperwork with
customs. Sometimes seems like a never ending circle.
Terry it was also great actually meeting you down at Las Gaviotas we hopefully will see you there next year, as I only have two weeks left now before
heading down to La Paz and Cabo. Thinking about stopping in Loreto for a few days, heck may even run into Skeet and buy him a few cold ones,LOL.

Once you drive out of the Secondary parking area you will merge into traffic that just entered Mexico... the road curves right and climbs up a
overpass. Just follow all the signs for: PLAYAS, ROSARITO, ENSENADA, SCENIC ROAD, MEX. 1-D It will be about the second place you can turn right, a
single, narrow lane... It is up on an overpass (bridge) and a quick right turn takes you down to the road that follows along the river levee and then
the border fence, heading west. You climb a steep hill, then drop down the other side, where you will need to be in the right lane to get onto the
highway for Ensenada. All well signed... Cuota (toll) or Scenic Road...
Coming back (if this way) follow the signs for San Diego, Garita (border), I-5, etc.

Hola, i have read here there is an exclusion zone that the former fmt is not needed.
my son is crossing the border and meeting me in san quintin to fish. other than a fishing license and mexican auto insurance, will he need to stop and
get the immigration visa to keep his insurance valid ?

Check the insurance... despite rumors posted here, insurance likely isn't denied if you don't have a fmt or fmm...
San Quintin... for under a week? I wouldn't bother (because officials at the border have said it isn't needed in Baja Norte, from recent posts).
But, it isn't me, it's your son... and it wouldn't hurt to do everything he MAY need... a learning experience for entering other countries, perhaps?

David K is right on. And you/son might as well get the one week permit as it is free. Watch your speed on the road along the fence as you drive
west...then again, watch your speed anywhere in TJ. Good luck fishing in San Quintin...they have had a rough rough summer there and I hope things are
turning around.
