they're 200 lb predators!

I think I've spotted that guy about 2 or 3 miles south of town on the way to Gecko. Have you seen the three-legged coyote?

Oh, forgot to tell you. Don't know if you have seen it, but, there is a Bob-cat that has been hanging out at Gecko, it seems to really like
Soulpatch's trailer to hide under.......keep an eye out, he dosen't seems to give a hoot about humans.
Mean people suck!

Just a word of caution
If the fox will allow you to get close or seems to want to hang around, the chances are he has rabies. We had one in our yard a few years back and
our vet told us that they do not come around people if they are well.

Thanks for the infoBajajudy. This fox was starving. It was eating the bird seed I had thrown out the doves and quail and drinking water from our bird
bath. I did feed it some dry dog food down the beach from our house.

Being a BIG animal lover......good for you feeding that critter. And away from your house...smart move

The three legged coyote came by my place one night this past summer. She was one of the many that came through each night for about a week trying to
lure/capture/eat the puppy that I rescued from Munoz land.

We're cat "owners" (although they'd debate this...) also ~ We still have 4 lazy old cats we dearly love.... Our 22 y.o. "Grizzly" died last
summer. Grizz's dad was a bobcat and his mom a domestic feline ~ our vet drew blood and sent it to the lab to verify.... He was 25 lbs of muscle and
love . . . very shy and very loyal . . . (He / his smell maybe ? made all the local dogs a bit cautious, and even the 150 pounder across the street
NEVER came in our yard when old Griz was out...
We have deer in our yard daily this fall . . . helping us gleen what's left of our fruit and garden :-). We have a family of Raccoons I've "known"
for 27 years . . . several generations now !! And we have a cute / mannerly skunk that likes to eat our cat food in our breezeway too.
I love all critters. Our cats seem to also ~ though they give the larger coons and Pepee Le Piew lots of space when the come around....
I say good on ya for feeding the little grey fox some kibble down the beach ~ especially if he's starving and just passing through. . . . We're all
just trying to survive and find our way in life. Foxes are smart and proud and much local (Idaho) native lore / oral history recounts this. Lets
hope you collect some good "karma" for trying to help the wandering fox.
I just did a little reading and read that rabies is more rare than most people think ~ especially in dispersed populations . . . it appears more
often in tighter populations. Not that you should push your luck certainly, but if it were me, I wouldn't automatically assume rabies because he's
wild and hungry.

just so we are clear...my advice was to stay away from foxes that appear to be tame and not afraid of humans. this is aberrant behavior for a fox and
indicates that he/she is sick.

Years ago while exploring the hidden passageways of an ancient archeological site in BOLA which shall remain nameless, I discovered this pictograph
which I believe is of the Grand Chief of the Smokin Coyotes.
Legend has it that this chief had magical powers far greater than any three-legged coyote, and foxes would come great distances seeking him.
Has anyone else stumbled on this in their explorations?
