More Art Work.

A few days ago, a very good friend here in BA gave is this gift he made for us---he said that when we use it, we should oil it with mineral oil every few months---

Fat chance this is ever going to see a knife!

Thanks for looking!

I don't know what kind of wood for sure, but is is made from left over wood from the cabinets, doors, and furniture he makes---all, also very nice. So it is not a hard wood like a maple because we don't have any of that kind of wood around these parts. I will ask him.

I saw a couple other ones before that he made for gifts for family and they were different---just as beautiful, but with different designs. No two were alike.

Really nice .... have always liked anyone who has the ability to create something... and appears there are a few in your area including yourself... who are creators... really good to see... only makes one feel more "in sync"... IMHO

Beautiful cutting board, Diane, a very dear gift from your friend.

I, too, have an ornate hand-made board and have found that in the long run it is far better to use Walnut Oil or something similar - maybe grapeseed oil? Over time the mineral oil can begin to get a tackiness to it. When that happens the only choice is to give the board a light sanding, then begin again with better oil. And yep, I know it is unlikely you'll find better oil in Asuncion.;D

But I can bring down some other oil.

Thanks for the tip---we will keep it oiled, but we will not be cutting anything on it.
