That will probably get you a discount at Anthony's in Ensenada. (Less time-wear and tear on the workers).

What you are looking for (I think) is the government issued INSEN Senior card.
You might try looking/asking at the San Jose or Cabo senior citizens center.
The card is free and is really easy to obtain. When I obtained mine (in Ensenada 3 years ago) these were the requirements:
Must be 60 years old
Your FM-3/FM-2 and a color copy of the picture pages,
2 small "infantil" color frontal pictures of your face (this is a picture i.d. card).
I went to the INSEN building, and took a number. The lady was processing the cards on an electric typewriter. The process took about 10-15 minutes.
Get there early. I arrived about 10AM and waited for about 2 hours for my turn.
After you get the card issued, make about 3 color copies and have them laminated....keep one in your wallet and another in your car....I always seem
to forget mine.....when you checkout at any business, show the card.......no set discount amount, but most large businesses (including COSTCO) honor
them.

Ok, here's the report. Beachbum1A and Bajamigo successfully obtained their discount cards today in Ensenada. This was, of course, after dining at
Marco Antonio's for his best-ever fish tacos. Finding the office was much harder than getting the card!
The cards are issued at the INSEN office, now known as INAPAM, a division of DIF. The age requirement is at least 60 years of age. You must be a
Mexican citizen or residing in the country legally. They had to present copies of their FM3s or FM2s, the page that shows your date of birth. Also
required was a foto infantil (a photograph 2.5 cm high and 2 cm wide which can be made up via your own computer, and they only need one) They asked
for an emergency contact in case of an accident, whether or not you worked, and your local address. It took the lovely woman all of 5 minutes to type
up the application (yes, on a typewriter!) and the ID card itself. She affixed the photo to the card. They signed the application and the card. El
fin.
Then we came home and researched what INAPAM was all about. Basically, it's about taking care of our senior citizens as they deserve respect and have
a great deal to offer society. There are free health services (including health education), computer classes, art classes, senior centers, etc. Only
problem is, most of these services are currently only available in the greater Mexico City area...a complete listing of the available services can be
seen here.
http://www.inapam.gob.mx/DirecINAPAM07.pdf
It shows a 5% discount at Gigante markets amongst other things.
The benefits of the card are not much different than the benefits offered by a number of merchants in the USA to senior citizens to encourange them
shopping at their stores.

I'm trying to find the office in San Jose or Cabo to apply for the thing. IF it actually works for a discount on property tax it would be worth the
hassle. I know of people in Todos Santos that have gotten the thing in La Paz.

We live in CSL and about 10 days ago the hubby decided he and his friend would apply for their discount cards. First of all..."Patients is a
virtue...you will need alot of it!"
Osprey is correct you will need a CURP #.
durrelllrobert is correct when you get a new FM2/3 card you also get the CURP #. HOWEVER - if you are like us, we were in the first group to get the
new FM-2/3 cards and that means INM got CURP #'s for us. It just showed up on our FM-3 cards without us going to get it. From what I understand now
that has stopped and you are responsible for going to get your CURP card #.
So back to getting the card. They got the correct infantil size color photos, they took a CFE bill, they took their FM-3 cards then found the place
in Cabo. Once they were able to speak with the girl behind the desk she informed them "you need a CURP card #." Jim showed her their FM-3 cards with
the CURP #'s. "No, you have to have a CURP card." OK...off to get a CURP card which was the easy part. By the way...the CURP cards showed the same
CURP #'s as their FM-3's...Duh! Back to the office to get their discount cards. "No...your photos have to be matte finish you have glossy." Thank
God Jim asked her "if we come back with the matte finish photos will you give us our discount cards today or is there anything else we need?" She
answered "I just ran out of the cards so I can not give you the cards today." Jim asked "how long will it be?" She said "if you leave you paperwork
with me it will be one month. If you wait until I get the blank cards it will be two weeks." Say whaaat!!! You will need to speak Spanish at the
CSL office.
We had to return to the USA so our friend Mike decided he would go to San Jose, find the office, get his card and see if they would issue my husband's
card to him. Mike reported..."I found the office, waited only about 30 thirty minutes, they spoke some English however they told him "you live in
Cabo so you have to go to the Cabo office." Boy, what I would have given to see Mike's face. Anyway, he kept his cool and explained the Cabo office
is out of blank cards so they can not issue the discount cards. He said the girl made a phone call to the Cabo office, spoke with someone then told
him "You are right, they are out of blank cards but you will have to go back to the Cabo office." With his head down Mike returned to the Cabo
office, dropped off both sets of paperwork and was told "it will be one month before you can get your discount cards."
We will return to Cabo in two - three weeks...hopefully the cards will be ready shortly after we get back! We are thinking positive thoughts!
To answer the questions where is the Cabo office...it is one of those places you need to be driven to. The general area...continue on the road going
past the "traffice police station" (next to the Delegation/Red Cross) up that steet, at a stop sign you turn right, go about a mile...somewhere there
is a school and back there is a Government building. Once we return to Cabo I will make a follow-up post.
I need a drink after typing all of this...you probably need one after reading it...maybe a double!

Thanks Karen! We are more or less tied into San Jose more than Cabo.......but who knows. Is the San Jose office close to the Bomberos/Property
Tax/CURP card/sewage treatment plant?

We are using Alonso Lopez in La Paz to help us get our new FM2's. We met him in La Paz to sign the paperwork and I asked him if he could help us get a
CURP number and senior discount card, he of course replied "sure, no problem, we can do it now. We went and got our pictures taken for the FM2's and
got extras which we gave to him, followed him to the CURP place and was in and out in 10 minutes with our cards then followed him over to the discount
card place and in 15 minutes left with a discount card.
I would have had to have a reasonable command of the Spanish language (which I unfortunately don't) to have done it myself. The whole process took
about 1 hour including following Alonso around.....I don't know how much he charged me to do it yet but I know it will be money well spent....dt
