Pulling trailer to Puertecitos? Can we be near a decent beach?
Hi all,
Are there decent places near Puertecitos (south or north) to bring a 26' travel trailer for a few days of camping? I have a 2006 Dodge Durango 4x4,
but haven't tested its ability with 4x. I've only used it for snowy driving, without trailer.

There is a real nice one just before --right next to the hwy--Playa Destiny. Be carful of the vados--keep your speed down

As for equiped for sand? LET THE AIR OUT of your tires if you need to drive over deep sand... 4WD high range, best... 15 psi usually good for
floatation. Have an electric pump to refill when you are done... and a good gauge! IF YOU GET STUCK in sand... do not spin the tires... let out MORE
air! Clear away any built up sand that is holding your Durango... lower the pressure to 10 psi if 15 didn't do it... drive out.

Campos Costilla - 6 miles pass Puertecitos
Hard surfaced road. Clean. Great beaches. Security. Outhouses. No water. Good time for snorkeling(yes!). Fishing very good. One of my favorite places
for that area. I was just there last week...am doing a write up on it tomorrow. Picture below.

There are miles of wide sand beaches near San Felipe... South of La Roca they are mixed with rocks, and south of Puertecitos they are more gravel...
but there are exceptions... and at Punta Bufeo and Alfonsina's on or near Gonzaga Bay, you have white sand again.
Here is a photo, 20 miles south of San Felipe, near Bahia Santa Maria and Laguna Percebu...

Just a little word of warning. The sand right now on the beaches south of San Felipe are abnormally soft and deep right now. We just had a few days
of high winds that have blown very fine sand onto the beaches. This is nothing new, but we haven't had much of a tide since. Even the local
fishermen have been tying two trucks together to launch their boats. If you are not familiar with sand/beach driving, be extremely careful. Be sure
to air down and try to stop pointing downhill. Most importantly, be sure to park above the high tide mark.
