I can't speak to all Toll booths but the ones north of Esenada have great exchange rates. It doesn't really matter if you use pesos or dollars. If I recall the ones on Blvd 2000 do as well but are about 3x's as expensive

Okay, all this talk about dollars accepted at the toll booths - exactly how many dollars do I need from beginning to end of toll road (TJ to Ensenada)?

And, are there ATMs located at or near the Wal-Mart in Ensenada?

thx, Rob

There are at least five banks located in that plaza...and as I recall, the tolls are about 2.50 each and there are 3...someone correct me if I'm wrong.

27 + 27 + 30 Ps comes to around 8 bucks as they see it.
Yeah...ATM in WalMart.
Don't ask for exact anything in Mexico. It's a waste of time.

unbob, that I am not sure of, but I would venture to say yes...there has been so much development in that plaza over the past few years. Possibly within one of the many restaurants?

Yeah....that's a pricey stretch of toll road for I think about 16 miles. Nice drive though....especially after a bit of rain when the hills are green.

they say they do not accept a combination of currencies.
