Shipping to La Paz
I want to order stuff via the internet (amazon.com) and have it shipped to La Paz. This would be only small stuff weighing no more than 5 lbs or so.
Is there a reliable way to make that happen?
I don't mind waiting several weeks for delivery if necessary.
Surely other Nomad'ers have a need for this service - yes?
There's gotta be way (I hope)!

Is there a business that provides a shipping delivery address? DHL?

Shipping
You are going to need a shipping address......maybe a friend in La Paz with a house or a business.
Additionally, Amazon.Com will not ship certain items out of the US. You need to check on the Amazon item site and see if there are any shipping
restrictions.
From the links posted above, you are gonna pay big bucks (or pesos) to get items shipped to you in Mexico.
My suggestion is to find someone in San Diego that you can have the item(s) shipped to. That person can repackage the item, take it to TJ and put it
on the bus to La Paz.

For your consideration: I had a book sent from California, and was charged a 40 percent duty on the listed value of it when I picked it up in La Paz.
If you need an address to receive books here in La Paz, contact me u2u and I'll send you mine. But don't send any rare books on Mexican history, I'm
sure they won't arrive (if I don't own a copy already)

I used DHL in La Paz a couple years ago for an electronic part shipped from California. I gave DHL's local address and just picked it up at their
office. It was fast and reasonably painless.

So, if I have something shipped via DHL (or whatever), is the package required to be held at the receiving office in La Paz until "cleared" through
customs? How long does that usually take? I'd assume anything shipped from outside Mexico must go through customs and be charged a "duty fee". Where
would I find info regarding this question?

The last time I tried anything like that it cost me 60 dollars to ship an outboard motor impeller about an inch in diameter and a half inch thick, and
it took over two weeks to get it. Never again.
