I thought I read on their facebook page that participation in this tournament was going to be for locals only for different reasons??? Has that changed or did I read it incorrectly?

But, it will still be a lot of fun to watch---Hope the surf cooperates for them!

Just a little surfing at Pig Beach

And unlike most the gringo surfers I know, they like to share the same wave.

This is called a local event because there arent any big sponsors so there isnt any money for prizes or trophies etc...it's not a big event so they werent expecting other clubs to come over for it but I just talked to the organizer and he said surfers from abreojos and turtle bay are coming too and anyone here is always welcome to participate.... the more the merrier!!

It is a fun event...many of the local surfers are away at college and so this is so they can all surf together and have a little friendly competition when they are home for the holidays. We just got some bumper stickers they made up to sell to help offset costs of the tournament and a new surf board (thanks to the Francis family from Oceanside) will either be a prize or raffled off ad no doubt some more prizes will appear...the club will be doing their annual street Santa event as well.

so our invitation stands!

No shirts this year due to lack of funds but there are bumper stickers....who wants one?

I believe Aldo, one of the original team members does the artwork...pretty cool eh!!

Juan is on holidays from the rockpile and has "Gone Fishing"!

Well the sun was out for a bit in the morning...water was pretty warm and the surf came up to about 6' to make the 2nd annual surf tournament alot of fun...Mike and Don Kay provided on shore entertainment...thanks to all the surfers and expats who are here who helped make it a great day.

Here are some photos of the day
