A single firecracker going off every hour or so in the pueblo?

I know the Christmas festivities can start a little earlier than the usual 16th, and the 12th is Our Lady of Guadalupe, but anyone know why we hear a single firecracker mini bomb going off somewhat regularly throughout the day starting around 6:30 am and going til after dark? it's been going on for at least a week.
El husband says it happens every year and must have significance. I think someone just got a lotta firecrackers this year and is making them last...
Speaking to locals with our limited Spanish just makes out disagreement more intense...
Luckily, la dog has a actually gotten used to it and no longer sends out the alarm at each and every one.

Scheduled Christmas firing squad executions.

Do you live in Cd. Juarez??

If so....they may be unscheduled executions.
