Crossing into BCS? grocery question
I thought I have heard you cannot bring certain things into BCS. What is the reality with that?
If there are issues, what do you do when traveling in an rv? Do you wait to buy groceries once you cross into Mexico, into BCS, or do you stock up in
the U.S...???
Thanks!
Brian

Avoid a display of fresh fruit/vegetables on entering BCS - they will be confiscated. No other groceries are affected, in my experience.

Hola,
there was an embargo on beef, pork & chicken earlier in the year as i heard people were having theirs taken at some of the inspection points.
any produce is not allowed from the states but i don't know if you can buy them in northern baja and cross with them at guerrero negro going south ?
it just seems whatever any inspectors wife wants for dinner is confiscated.
la paz, san jose and cabo all have large markets like costco, walmart, sam's club, soriana's, mega, etc. so it shouldn't be difficult in stocking up.
on my way to los barriles, i just stop at the walmart going into la paz and quit hassling with it anymore.

If you aren't going that far South, or would like to have stuff during your journey, Ensenada has a plethora of large well-stocked markets. Walmart,
Costco, Comercial Mexicana, Soriana, all right along the main highway. Just keep in mind that the pickin' gets a bit slim between Ensenada and La Paz.

they ask if you have fruit or veggies as you cross from BC to BCS. and then they spray the tires for a fee. I understand you are not supposed to take
anything fruit or veggie across that line.
we have a local store stocked with costco items here in la bocana !

Boy....that's funny!
Whenever we go to our house....we just buy at the local mercado. They are fully stocked from Best Food Mayo to meats. One problem is the steaks are
cut thin. Veggies to fruits is plentiful.
I am positive that if you post your Baja destinations here...you will get detailed addresses of the mercado in each town
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

hmmm......we live in Baja ft and shop in Chula Vista weekly and I always bring back meat and dairy. Also used to bring produce but get most things now
at Commercial. Never Once Had an issue with confiscation-when we get pulled on occasion into secondary they look at our stuff and we go. No prob with
inspections going down to Cabo either-
