Recent Travelers on La Paz Ferry ??
Has anyone on the board recently used the La Paz ferry to the mainland ... I searched and the last info on BN was dated last year... this will be my
first time crossing on the ferry.... tips and suggestions would be welcomed from recent experiences...

Yep...used the La Paz ferry last week
It's a piece o' cake...comfortable-fast-efficient even. Be inline by about 1 PM to get your import permit (takes credit card only). The cost for two
and my small pickup is about $225 USD to Topo- a six hour crossing. Write me if you have specific questions
Things are expensive, but at least we get a free trip around the sun once a year

I once took the La Paz ferry to Guymas when it was running in the '60's and '70's. I was the most beautiful night cruise during the summer. Took 12
hours and provided great memories. Probably wasn't profitable because they discontinued it.

We did the La Paz-Mazatlan ferry in 1966 and the Santa Rosalia-Guaymas ferry in July, 1973. Both times after driving down the peninsula first and to
get home on paved roads after.

The Ferry ride over to Mazatlan was easy sailing. It’s a modern ferry with all the amenities. We made a good decision and invested $64 for a private
cabin. We had 2 beds, a bathroom, and a hot shower.

we went la paz to los mochis on the overnight last year May (2010)
we had a cabin
it was a great trip - quiet and uneventful. cabin clean and sleeps 2 comfortably. meal included inthe ticket.

..I remember it seemed tricky and difficult to catch a trip across to the mainland ~10 years ago,,,priority for commercial and mexican traffic---long
line,,and unable to confirm a spot----is it better now,,,,and how does one book a car on??....thanks

Did you mean Topolobampo, by chance? I can't ever remember a ferry running from La Paz to Guaymas. If it was the Topolobampo-La Paz ferry owned by the
Ruffos, named Salvatierra, it quit running after it sank in a storm in the San Lorenzo Channel (between Tecolote Beach and Espiritu Santo Island. I
think that was in 1976 or so. Good diving, I hear.

Took the ferry from Cabo to Mazatlan in 1979. We drank tequila with a bunch of vacationing Mexicanos. Slept on deck with my girl between me and my
buddy. Some guy we had been partying with came over and tried to crawl in my girlfriends sleeping bag. I heard her yelling and woke up in time to see
him running off!
