whirlwind trip to Ensenada, bahia de los angeles, Sta.Rosalillita & Rosarito

I had the great pleasure of playing co-pilot for Iflyfish in his super duper little RV to Vicente Guerrero where I hopped a bus to Ensenada to get some grandson time in.
Here is a little album of photos and a video of Izaak's first solid food....a little mango madness.

I hopped the 2:00 am bus to Punta Prieta where Juan was waiting to dash over to BOLA for lunch and a visit with the tios and primos there....I saw what I want for Christmas next year there.

Then we zoomed over to Sta.Rosalillita for the sunset at a nice beach north of town.

We stayed at the little hotelito by the store which was 300 pesos for a nice little room with hot shower and beach view. the owner of the store will do meals for you if you arrange it for her....word is she makes a great mole! The old restaurant there is closed so it's a good idea to bring food in in case the taco stand isnt open as it wasnt for us.

The big project being built there is shut down, the marina silted in but the new breakwater has created an outstanding surf break so there were 3 groups camped on the beach in town and guys out from dawn til dusk.

pretty good waves...there is a guy in the tube

In the morning there was no coffee to be found so we buzzed out to camp to see some pals there...standingwave always has coffee and stuff to doctor it up with...so there we were soakin up the morning rays watching the dudes rip out from behind the point and go slashing across the bay...beautiful surfers in their 50's hangin 5 & 10 on their longboards...so elegantly carving turns....there was a very nice onda there that day.

then Woody showed up to make our visit even nicer...we got to watch him enjoy the last waves of his trip and bid him hasta pronto....i think that camp was close to guerrero negro!!!!jeje

then we stopped in Rosarito to visit more tios and went over to see them working the marble there. Turns out my amigo's brother is in charge there and he explained the whole process to us of how they get the marbe at the mine, cut it up according to orders and what they do with it.

it was facinating and we ended up buying a gunnysack full of the end pieces from when they cut the "tiles"...we wanna make a mosaic and maybe some jewellery too.
This stack was being made for a very fancy house someone is building in Campo Esmerelda at the north end of Tomatal. Their bathroom will be all marble and they will also have an indoor swimming pool....whoa!

Next time, we will check out the marble mine.
then more visiting in GN, shopping, lunch at kassandra's in Jesus maria, beer stop in Vizcaino and home last night...whew!

Could it be onyx from El Marmolito? (just a few miles south of Rosarito)
