Understanding my property tax receipt...

Would someone please explain to me what the number and '2/M' coming after 'CAPITAL:' means?

The number seems so unrelated to anything I have on any other paperwork...

Is it supposed to match the value of the property done by the appraiser who did the manifesto (or whatever the end of construction is)?

Hi Kate,
It's typed in the center, left. It is a Comondu receipt. I do not know if that is different than a La Paz one....

I'm guessing that "Capital" is your current assessed value and 2/M is your tax rate per meter.

In 2008 we manifested our construction and the "Capital" on the tax bill that year matched our manifestation amount exactly. Since then our "Capital" has shot up to almost 3 times as much as in 08 so we must be been re appraised at some point. If your "Capitals" don't match either and have increased since you manifested, you were probably re assessed too.

Our ___/M number decreased after manifesting.

Ours for example-
Before manifesting the construction
Capital $XXXXXX 14.46/M = Big tax bill

After manifesting
Capital $XXXXX (same amount as above) 5.2/M = much lower tax bill

Our other lot with no buildings
Capital $XXX (much lower value than the Capital on the other lot) 5.2/M

It looks like your 2/M is a lower rate than ours and you have all those fancy city services! jaja

Muchas gracias.
Now that I know what it is supposed to be....I will go the emotional circle of correction versus it's OK as is versus correction versus OK as is....
G'nite!

That's all I could come up with when I tried to figure out our tax receipt CP, but what do I know! The Comondu catastro office was very approachable when we had a question about taxes this year. We discovered they had recorded our construction manifestation on the lot without any construction (?), and when we thought the rate still seemed high, he did some re-calculating and brought the payment down a little more. If you think something's not right or have a question, it's worth the visit next time you're in Ciudad.
