Border Crossing & Registration

I’m planning on having a friend bring my 4x4 Quad down from California to East Cape. My question is, can he bring it into Baja with the registration not in his name?

Barring being stopped by the police for speeding or being involved in an accident, chances are very high that it will never become an issue. In all my years driving Baja, I was asked one time for the registration of the vehicle I was driving at an army checkpoint. However, they didn't ask me for my own personal ID or DL. Assuming that you will have Mexican auto insurance on the vehicle, those policies as written basically cover any occupant of the vehicle. If I was going to err on the side of caution, I would give your driver a notarized letter of permission to drive your vehicle.

The registration papers and permission to use the vehicle. Is it being hauled on a trailer? Again....the registration papers and permission to use the trailer vehicle.

We are frequently asked for our registration when bringings motos into Baja. It only happens at the Border / Aduana. There are some reports of them not accepting copies of the registration, requiring an original. They have never asked to match my ID to the bike, just where is the registration.

A notarized note isn't a bad idea, though.
