San Felipe Saturday Night Explosions to the North?
Saturday Night were were sitting on our front porch about 50 yards off the beach and to the north I noticed a large white flash and figured it must
have been a headlight or something. Many seconds later we heard a loud boom. Now, I am talking many seconds later, like 15 to 20 seconds. This
happened several times. I have no clue what it was except for maybe the gold mine may have done some explosions.
Anyone else see this Saturday night?

Probably the mine. I've seen dust from the explosions several times, including last Thursday.

That is the only thing I could figure due to the sonic delay.

how far awayis the mine from you? a 15 second delay indicates that the flash you saw was 3 miles (5 km) away:
Divide the number of seconds by 5 to calculate the distance in miles (or divide by 3 for kilometers). The delay between when you see flash and when
you hear noise occurs because sound travels much, much more slowly than light. Sound travels through air at about 1100-1200 feet (330-350 meters) per
second (depending on altitude, relative humidity, pressure, etc.), which is a little more than one mile per five seconds (one kilometer per three
seconds). In comparison, the speed of light is 983,571,058 feet (299,792,458 meters) per second.

That mining operation is right past the Military outpost a few miles, up in the face of the hills. Right? 35 plus miles away...?
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

| 35 miles x 5 miles per second = 175 seconds or nearly 3 minutes
