This little bird, The Verdin,


is so beautiful it may seem out of place living in the dense thorny shrubs of Baja. Calls include a rapid chip, chip, chip.

These birds build a spherical nest that helps insulate the nestlings from the heat of the day.

Hi Russ, Had to edit my post. My bird is a Verdin. Thats a nice photo of a Lark Sparrow you have there in pics 2 and 3. Funny thing is I was going to post a pic of the Lark today but decided on the Verdin instead.

I think you should post it anyway and I can learn what to look for when I shoot next time. All my shots are back lighted so it's really hard to shut down the aperture and spot focus. But I'm working on it. Birds are more scarce in the late afternoon for me.
