That is soooo cool! I being an farmer too....that is backbreaking work. Is this farm organic?
Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

That's a pretty good sized planting.... and looking pretty darn good... can't tell what it is... ??
How's irrigation work? and what materials do they use, if you know... just curious.. used to be in farming too.. still like to watch folks grow... and
the smells of harvest... especially first cut alfalfa... nothing better on an early morning ...

That's basil Wiley, they use drip tape for irrigation and inject the fertilizer into the system. I love the smell of malathion in the morning. Not!

There are organic farms in the area. Fortunately, basil doesn't need to be sprayed that often, chiles are the worst, they spray them with really toxic
stuff about once a week. Just last month a local kid about 25 years old died from pesticide exposure, tragic, I watch the guys spraying in the morning
fully enveloped in a cloud, no protective gear.

Yes Shari, in fact the next farm over is organic. Except for when his neighbor is spraying and it's windy. Trader Joe's get alot of their herbs from
this area.

Thanks for the pictures mono ... pretty cool... see the drip line in the last photo...
Too bad about the spraying ... it does happen... and I was wondering .. about the chili's ... they really are hit hard... at least mine did last year
in El Pescador... they killed off my habanero... and really put a dent in the Anaheim and jalapenos ...
Had some lady bugs... that were helping out... along with some soap solution I made up... but, that was only three plants... not 40 acres... it gets a
bit harder to deal with the larger the grow... know ya, can go without spraying.... but, sometimes... it's really is the only thing left to save a
crop in some cases...

They get a bug, they call it picuro or picudo, I'm not sure what the actual name is, they get under the skin of the chile and can ruin the whole crop.
