Numbers to rockpile, La Ribera?

Having given up on Los Frailes, with the cold water letting me catch only barriletes, I was thinking of bringing my kayak offshore from La Ribera.

The last time I went offshore from Barriles, somebody told me a good spot was only 1.5 miles out. After a paddle of 3.5 miles, I caught a, you guessed it, barrilete. I don't think motorboaters have a decent grasp of distance, so I'd love to have numbers this time.

Thanks

i don't have numbers to the spot in front of la ribera...i get there by a couple of marks on land. there are usually a couple of commercial pangas on the spot when the fishing is decent. i'm not real good at distance estimation over water, but i think it's probably closer to the 3.5 mile distance than the 1.5 mile mark.
good luck...wish i was there instead of cold and wet northern california.
