I actually think he was embarrased into that indirectly by Gates and Buffet. A lot of noise was made about the Gates Foundation generosity and Slim's lack of same.

If you wanted to you could name many more wealthy people and also see that Gates and Buffet are quite a different thing than Slim.

I wonder if Slim pays any taxes?

One investment he should make is in a huge private army to try and retake parts of Mexico that have been lost to the mob.

If you could look into the future you might see that Carlos Slim may play a big role in how Baja changes in the next 20 years or so. He is buying more than just beach estates, from what I have heard (there's gold in them thar hills . . )
