mysterious stone structure south of Loreto

Does anyone know the history of the large stone structure on a hill just south of Puerto Escondido on the east side of the road? It can only be seen from the road if you are driving north. It was obviously used as a water reservoir, about 100'x40', 12' deep, very thick walls and had a metal corrugated roof before it blew off. I find it interesting because of it`s quality construction. The rockwork is beautiful and the welding on the roof structure is high quality and very heavy duty. There is a large diameter pipe leading out of it but I can`t see where it goes. There are no obvious water sources nearby but there is an old well a couple miles to the west at the base of the mountains. It has been an overnite camp spot for me since the mid 90`s and has been abandoned at least since then.

I loved the stories about that building. One was a water storage for a cruise ship line?????? Another was fuel storage for a fishing boat fleet?????? I'm anxious to hear the "real" story. Skeet. you should have the scoop on this question

Remember, in the early 1970's a ferry landing was going to be at Puerto Escondido (running to Topolobampo) and the slip was installed just south of the pier... Could it be anything to do with that never completed project?
