Update on Ponchos at Bahia San Rafael
We drove the Bahia de los Angeles-to-El Arco road last week, stopping at Ponchos for a few hours, dropping off a few things that were suggested he
might need. His compound is considerably larger as he has added a fairly large room. Also, there was maybe a dozen pangas using the beach between
his place and the camping palapa to the south as their launch area. They were camped up on the cliff near his buildings. Lots of activity.
The entire trip from BOLA to GN thru El Arco took about 6 hours in a full size pickup plus stops. There was a military checkpoint at El Arco with
maybe a dozen very bored inspectors. We met only one other traveler, a pickup with a large camper going north. I sure hoped they emptied the shelves
of the cabinets before leaving the pavement.

How is Pancho...? Any photos of his campo...? It has been several years since I was last there!
Pancho and I in the middle, with two American kayakers waiting for the wind to die (April, 2002).

We camped on the beach just north of Rancho de Pancho in November, just prior to the Baja Mil, and Pancho was in fine form. He had torn down most of
his main 'casa' and was in the process of enlarging it. We spent a few nights around the campfire with him listening to his wild stories, fueled by
just a few Tecates and maybe a shot or two of Tequila. If I ever figure out to post pictures here I could tell quite a story. I even have a video
clip of Pancho telling a classic story about his 8 hermanos (same madre but 8 different padres). Like I said, a classic!
