Does anyone know if the campground in San Juanico has caretakers? Is it open?

Damn, we were just by there last weekend, but don't ordinarily go out to the camp ground on such passings. I'll check the photos I took in the area,
perhaps they may show something from a distance.
If it's been a while since you've been out there, you're in for a big treat, at least if you're coming from the south. The road is now paved all the
way from the Las Barrancas turn off to San Juanico (via Las Barrancas, obviously), and bypasses the hill section that one encountered when leaving the
road in the La Purisima Arroyo. The new road offers some nice views of the estuary at the mouth of the Purisima Arroyo.
But if you're a regular out that way, you already knew that. I discovered that the last time I was out that way, I needlessly took the old hilly route
until it joins the new pavement down in the flatlands. Glad I made the trip north-to-south this time, or I'd a done it again!

Steve, how is the river/ estuary crossed? Did they build a bridge?

There are two such crossings now, one of them being the estuary at the La Purisima Arroyo--which was previously bypassed by crossing the arroyo where
the old San Juanico turnoff leaves the highway. Both are crossed using the large-storm-drain-tubes-under-the-road method of road building (if I
remember correctly). The first effort at the estuary you are probably thinking of didn't last very long, but has since been repaired. I don't remember
seeing any bridges along there, but--as always--I could be wrong and it could be that they're there but I just didn't notice them.
