Hwy# 3 road condition again?
We're leaving Los Barriles in 4/4 for Tecate. I’ve heard many conflicting reports on the hwy# 3 road condition between Ensenada and Tecate. Anyone
know what it's like this week?

I was on it last week... Smooth sailing and no problems. Some dirt stretches where construction was happening but barely slowed down.
The "ag inspection" was a pain and I sat for 45 minutes before an agent came over and asked if I had bought dog food in Baja (they saw my dog). I
said no... And he didnt bother to look.... Then he wanted to look inside my cooler... I had a couple beers there. Inspection too less than a
minute and that was it. This was a first for me. Sure learned a lesson there.

Thanks for the info Lee, we'll give it a shot. Mainly because we want to visit the wineries along the way.
I assune the dog food check was at the Tecate border.
Have a good one and be safe.

Must be something new. Last report I got mentioned the military checkpoint was gone.
Anyway....I recently heard that the bridge down in Las Palmas Valley [I think that's the name] still had a hellacious surface so take it real slow.

I think Lee is talking about the U.S. border... If the border gaurd suspects you have violated the agriculture import rules, he/she sends you to
secondary inspection ("ag inspection") to see if you have violated the rules bringing in oranges, plants, whatever...
A while back, we declared that we had some limes (permitted), but the border gaurd was not versed on what was okay or not (new employee?)!
Sent us to secondary with the note on the windshield... we waited for 15 minutes before the ag inspector came over, grabbed the note, read outloud
"LIMES!?" and said get out of here! LOL

More of their "Good cop---Bad cop" game. You think these guys arn't all on the same page? They want to watch you sit there and squirm. It's easier
than searching your vehicle.
It would also surprise me if, while you sat waiting, they couldn't hear your conversation.

David is right. Ag appeared to be on the other side from the other secondary inspection after crossing the border. The area where people were asked
to exit their vehicle and wait in the holding area. I was sure I was being watched. Next time I'll state to the agent, at the crossing that I
have no dog food. At the inspection , the question was "do you have any dog food bought in Baja? I replied "the only dog food I have was bought
in the U.S.". He didn't ask to see the food. I too had a yellow note put on my windshield wiper and don't know what it said.
