Fireworms

Ornate fireworm - Chloeia viridis

Had I remembered who this was, I wouldn't have picked them up. They crawled equally well on either side, and neither of them stung me or left venomous hairs in my skin. Dumb luck. They had washed up on the beach in Loreto and undulated away when returned to the water.

Fireworms

Yes, one is right-side up, the other upside down. I'm a little unclear on which is which. My invertebrates book shows them fuzzy side up, but they seem to get around OK either way.

Why would you have wanted to put them up in the first place?
