New FM-3

Tried looking in "search" but could not find the answer...

When applying for a new FM-3 card does it have to be done in Mexico or can it still be done in the USA through the Mexican Consulate? We have some friends we "finally" convinced to get their FM-3s and have given them the "411" on everything but this question was asked.

We will start our FM-3 card renewal next month...should be interesting to see what has changed.

.

FM3 & FM2 can only be issued through Mexican INM offices now....no more allowed through Mexican Consulates in the states.

For a very comprehensive list of requirements & information, do a search here for a post by "oladulce", key word "FM3".

The answer is No. they no longer issue them at the Mexican consulate in the US, only issued in Mexico. We used to get ours there.

We updated to FM2 this year

Very expensive, almost double FM3, but if you plan on selling your casa in the future you will be taxed more with FM3.
Mexico has changed capital gains taxes last August and not in our favor!!
