New FM3 cards
Just got mine renewed in Loreto.
Very efficiently and professionally, I might add...
I forgot to ask, but because there is a renewal date on the back side, I'm assuming that it will be completely replaced (rather than updated like the
old passbooks) again this time next year, correct ?
Seems a bit wasteful, but at least the paperwork required this year was significantly less.... (no bank stmts, only the front of the US Passport, etc.
)
Also, the new gals at the LTO INM office and Rommel were all very helpful and professional. I think someone went in on Sunday to get most of my work
finished up for me so that it was ready on Monday (when I had to fly. . . . )
The new comments for my (on-line file - case) NUT on the website appeared Sunday evening, and several of the workers knew I was scheduled to fly
Monday - and they said they would try very hard to have it ready for me
Anyway, glad to have it all done again for another year.
I'm thinking that think next year Imight hire a local who does such things start my renewal for me so that it is farther along when I go down....
Any suggestions on who is currently doing that in Loreto and is efficient, dependable, successful ? ? Maybe Tere M. / any others ?
Thx

Alonso Lopez is not in Loreto specifically, but he handles all sorts of stuff and can come by when you need him:
"Alonso Lopez" <alonsobaja@prodigy.net.mx>
He is on facebook.
He has a cellphone" 612 142-9590
Good luck and congrats on another year taken care of.

djh there are several people in Loreto preparing the paperwork for you, but you still have to pick them up in person since they finger print you. Look
at your U2U

Last June I was one of the first to receive the new FM3 card. For my renewal this year I must get a new card which means new photo's, etc.

What a contrast in service between Loreto and Ensenada. I would gladly pay double if some decency came along with it.

djh...what was the cost of the renewal? Ours expires the first of June.
Also does anyone know what the cost of a FM-3 is for a "first timer"?

Thx.
It was 2102 pesos for the renewal.
I also gladly paid 1196 pesos as a late fee (a month late). Filing a little late put my renewal date at a much better time for me! I had called
almost 2 months earlier (a month prior to my expiration) to let the office know I'd be renewing late and they said thank you for letting them know....
and "no problem, there would be a small penalty for filing a month late..."
I may be wrong, but I think the first issuance is close to the sam if not THE same, but others here will know for sure.
Johannes, thanks for your note.... I sent you a reply. Also, that's what I had in mind, have a local start my next renewal and then be there for the
fingerprints and pick-up... Should save a little time, give someone a little extra $ for their assistance, and make the process a tad more simple for
me.
BTW there are MANY good folks in Loreto who are not receiving paychecks.... including all the city employees (police, fire, garbage, city hall, etc.
etc., who have not been paid in weeks. I hired a few little jobs on my property and the work and pay was very much appreciated ! Tough time for many
with the current administration leaving office shortly and the new one inheriting some financial troubles.
Dennis, sorry about the poor service in Ensenada.... They're famous for it, eh? I did stop there once years back at the office down by the marina
area and the 50-something fellow there wouldn't even speak to me.... He appeared hostile that I awoke him from a nap !!! I do appreciate the little
Loreto office and the good folks working there.
Best.

Got my FM2 last month
Double the cost, but I only need it 5 years and then no more money.
Also, I will be able to get my citizenship and dump my Fidi.

Better check this part out - I've heard only natural born Mexicans do not need Fidis in the restricted zone. Naturalized do need them.

We became Mexican Citizens two years ago, we had no problem removing our Fidi. We were told as Mexicans we COULD NOT keep our fidi on our property.
Very simple to get it removed.

Bill,
When you got the fidi removed, did the bank trustee charge you a bunch of money and did you have to pay a bunch of fees, including a large notario
fee? Did you have to pay for various permits and things like that? Also, did you have to use the services of an attorney to get it done?
Grateful for any light you can shed on this issue.

Big difference between Inmigrado [which is the final step in the FM progression] and Naturalization and/or Citizenship.
The Inmigrado still cannot buy land without a trust.
