Celebrating Carlos Estevez and the Battle of Puebla

The Lake Elsinore Storm Minor-League Baseball Team has scheduled a "Charlie Sheen-Co de Mayo" Holiday event with a dark-skinned Charlie in a Sombrero.

The promotion includes $1 Beer and Sodas, TIGER BLOOD c-cktails, two-for-one "Ho-Hos", a "Sheen-Co de Mayo" Bobblehead and WILD-THING eyeglasses from his 1989 character. Their website says that they've invited Sheen to "a Different Kind of Rehab".

Most EVERY Liberal and EVERY Political Hack in Elsinore and all points nearby is OUTRAGED. Drug-Counselors, Latino Groups, Womens Groups and ALL the other Usual Suspects. The Riverside Press-Enterprise made it their Lead Editorial. Which says something about their priorities.

The Latinos are WORRIED that, since a Baseball game is a Family Event, Hispanic KIDS will be presented a misrepresentation of Latino History, apparently thinking that Sheen had something to do with Mexican Independence.

Since MOST are likely attending Public School, THAT is probably a legitimate concern.

An added concern would be that, IF Charlie had been there, he's in REALLY Good shape for someone that old and they might interpret that as an endorsement of Drug Usage.

Maybe. After all, they ARE attending Public School.

We KNOW Carlos isn't the inspiration for the Holiday.

Most of US in the KNOW KNOW that the Holiday was actually created by Coors.

So...Is it gonna happen?

Lake Elsinore isn't on my way to anything but for this, I'd make an exception.

Play Ball

According to the article, Storm Management says it's ON and everybody needs to lighten up.

The Lake Elsinore Mayor says he's instructed the City attorney to determine whether they're in violation of the agreement to provide "Family" entertainment and, if so, what can be done.

Sounds like he's just blowing smoke to pander to the Latino Voter Activists.

I would think they would worry more over those 2 latinos that kicked that poor guy in the Dodger stadium parking lot. They probably crossed the border by now! Ass Holes.

An Unfortunate Sign of The Times

It used to be that we only had to worry about Raiders "Fans".

I think back to how many times I've been at games "rooting" for the other team or have been around others doing so.

We were once at a game rooting for the other side and one of the fans gave my wife a Baseball cap to root for the Home team.

The Hoodlum behavior is a sacrilege to the Holy pursuit that is Baseball.

As to the Sheen-Co, outrageous promotions are a Long-standing tradition of Minor-League Ball. People need to lighten up.

I Think That This is Hilarious

The good people of Elsinore have a sense of humor and aren't afraid to exercise it.
