San Felipe to Mexicali

The folks over on the EDR forum are saying the 3 detours on Hwy5 from San Felipe to Mexicali are a real mess since a heavy rain.
Vehicles of all shapes and sizes sliding in, getting stuck in and fistailing in the deep mud conditions. Numerous wrecks.:o No bueno.

When did it rain :?:

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

Leaving 4/12 for SF. We're taking one of each (4x4 & VW Jetta). Hear that it's clear again, but will let you know tomorrow night. If it doesn't rain, it's just slow going!

Mood: Anxious to get south

Drove from San Felipe north on Saturday just after the rains. It was slick alright but the amount of rock mixed in with the dirt gives the road some traction.

It had rained that morning but by 1 p.m. it was pretty dry. No problem unless it rains again and that is not likely to happen soon. Rain is pretty rare for this area.

Haven't had a bad trip yet....
