I had no idea what a pretty little beast is the Fiddler Crab. Neat to know.
Your bird pix - amazing.

Thanks, tehag. I love 'em.

Just showed these gorgeous pix to Ricardo. We both loved 'em!

He identified the Fiddler Crab as "Cangrejo" and emphasized that they're not a food source, not because they're poisonous or otherwise distasteful, but because they just don't have much meat underneath that gorgeous shell.

Cangrejo are the little guys of various colors that are running around and sunning themselves on the rocks at the seashore. The ones here in Bahia Asuncion are red. I've seen the lavender ones down by the lighthouse in Mulege.

Loved the caracara. Is it Baja's State Bird, does anybody know? The Harris Hawk is called an Agila locally, again an inclusive term for all hawks, I think.

Thanks, Tehag. Really nice.

Thank you, Dennis. You may well be correct there.
Rica said it wasn't a "jaiba" because its not for eatin', just for pinchin'.
