Kayaking Espiritu Santo, April 2011

April of this year my wife and I circumnavigated Isla Espiritu Santo by kayak over nine days, on an independent trip. What a beautiful place! I finally finished the trip report, complete with useful logistical details and lots of pictures:

Kayaking Espiritu Santo

I've already posted the link to part one of this trip, when we paddled from Mulege to La Paz. Still to come is part three, Isla Carmen.

Beautiful documentary of your travels. thanks for sharing and making your presence here.

My wife and I were in La Paz last month visiting with Steve (Bajatripper) who graciously offered to take us aboard his boat and circumnavigate the Espiritu Santo islands; I had to politely decline.

Great pics! I have two Kleppers but I also have paddled FeatherCraft boats in many parts of the world.

I kayaked Espiritu Santo for 10 days in 1989 with my sister and two others in Nauteraid doubles. It was my first trip ever to Mexico. Each day was its own monolithic highlight....but the topper was being visited by a pod of about 50-80 dolphins swimming underneath and around us.

That was the closest to God I think I have ever been.

Thanks for the reminder :saint:

Thanks for the compliments everyone, it was a fun trip.

Marc- folding kayaks are amazing, aren't they?! I've got dream trips in mind for Belize, the Bahamas, SE Asia, maybe India... What's your favorite destination?

Motoged- I haven't written about this yet, but when we paddled Isla Carmen a big pod of dolphins overtook us and we paddled IN the pod with them for- seriously- well over an hour! They were all around us, under us, jumping... Incredible!

I think the most exotic paddle was Halong Bay in Vietnam. New Guinea and Burma were great as was Rangiroa Atoll north of Tahiti.
