Kayaking Islas Carmen and Danzante
This is part 3 of my 3 part trip report of a 40 day kayak trip in Baja last spring. Here is the writeup for our circumnavigation of Isla Carmen and

and so, there is always a better spot in Baja

Read all 3 reports. They were great, Andy. Wish I had been there .... or even young enough to still do a trip like that.

Andy - you should get the book ENCHANTED VAGABONDS by Dana Lamb - it was written in the 30's and they canoed around Baja and eventaully went all the
way down to Panama. It was a husband and wife team and their hair-raising tales are just incredible.

Good report! Sounds like fun.
The odds of finding a quiet night's rest at Honeymoon Cove are pretty slim. It is a popular anchorage.
Did you see any sheep in your trip around Isla Carmen?

DavidK- that photo was taken on the east side of Carmen when a series of low clouds had rolled in. The island suddenly looked really forbidding; it
reminded me of the island in the Jurassic Park movie.

BajaBlanca- I'll check out the book, I love old travel/adventure tales.
Bill- we didn't see any sheep, or any other land animals that I recall. Our guidebook said there rumors that Carmen is going to be used as a private
hunting reserve, I'm curious if anybody knows if that's true?

I'm not sure, but have heard that hunting the sheep on Isla Carmen can be arranged for $10,000 U.S., or so, per head. I know that the owners of the
island tend the sheep and discourage tourists from trekking into the interior.

A sheep hunt on Carmen is running $40-50K these days. If you are lucky you can maybe get one for 25k, if you can grease a guy from the ejido, but not
likely.
