RV Park San Yasidro

I recall reading here of an RV Park in San Yasidro that has easy access to the border. Any info? Thanks.

Iflyfish...

I've tried them all...and the KOA is the best-closest-for-the-money..for me. Good travels.

edit to say...Opps, it's not in San Ysidro, though...it's in Chula Vista.

La Pacifica RV Resort: http://www.lapacificarvresortpark.com/outside_home.asp

They are about 1/4 mile from I-5 in San Ysidro. Half block from a Circle K,
Burger King, KFC, and just up the street from a McDonalds, Carls Jr, and AM-PM.

Knowing a lot of Nomads are RVers and are interested in getting up-to-date & real time info on campgrounds across the nation, I thought I'd report on my recent experiences.

State, county, and city parks are still the best buys. Naturally, these parks do not always have full hook-ups..and sometimes no hook-ups at all.

SOME SAN DIEGO COUNTY 'FULL SERVICE' CAMPGROUNDS

In the last 18 months I have stayed at a few of the full-service RV parks in San Diego. The rates I paid are:

$28 per night at Guajome Regional Park near Oceanside. Water & Electric only. Common dump for all. My favorite for many reasons.

$39 per night at Padre Lakes, Santee (second favorite...it's got ducks and I've got a grill...)

$45 per night at Vacationer RV, El Cajon (not so bad)

$49 Oceansider RV Park, Oceanside (great view of the inside of your neighbor's camper)

$50 per night (beachfront) Cal State Beach Parks, Carlsbad, etc.

$50 per night at Pacific RV Park, Oceanside (ugh)

$59 per night at Chula Vista's KOA (nice folks who took good care of me when I was very ill last December.)

$65 per night at Chula Vista Marina RV park. (snooty to older RV's who drag thier sewer hoses down the street...))

$70 per night at Campland on the Bay, Mission Bay (outrageous aand loud)

Now just think about those prices. Like Igor said in another RV park thread, "That's ridiculous." I agree.

p.s. to Iflyfish: Last year I asked for and was given permission to camp overnight at the Walmart closest to the border. As I recall, it was not so bad.

Located about 2 miles from me, on Hwy. 76... nice park.

My inlaws like to stay here in their motorhome... walk to the beach. Why didn't you like it, Roger?

Thanks, my brother will fly to Tijuana International then cross the border and catch a cab to meet me at a US RV Park before we head down the Baja in my RV.
It sounds like La Pacifica RV Resort is the closest to the border. We hit the road first of Nov. Yea!!!
Great information here.
Thanks,

It's right off the Dairy Mart exit and to your left.

If you roll in after 8PM the bathrooms, laundry, and showers are locked. On the other hand, if you leave by 6AM you stay for free. Actually, they have small envelopes with a mailbox for your payments. I never make reservations but you probably should. The entire park is gated and walled so, even though it's not a safe neighborhood, there appears to be little chance of vandalism. It's not very quiet because you're up against the freeway but by then you're so exhausted that nothing will matter.

Right on, Jorge....and it IS right on that great sandy beach with terrific sunsets. Seems to be a little loud partying on weekends, but good quiet, scenic spot during the weekdays.

We had fun camping there a couple Novembers ago...or maybe three. Who's counting??

There are sites where you can be on the sand, but I thought it best to park on the tarmac and not to get bogged in. ;)

I can't believe campland on the bay charges $70 a night ... that is just ridiculous. I used to own a bakery and we delivered our cinnamon rolls there for years ... $70 !!!!!????? you gotta be kidding me.

Come visit La Bocana

The cost at the Strand has increased. It is $35 a night for a space on the blacktop, and $50 for one next to the sand. No electricity but there are bathrooms and showers. The gate closes at 8:00 pm and opens at 8:00 am.
