Guys trip to Bahia Asuncion
One of the benefits of teaching at a year-round school is frequent vacations. Unfortunately, my wife, also a teacher, works at a traditional school
district and thus does not have a fall break. But I decided to make lemonade out of lemons and take my son, Gabriel, and fellow teacher, David, to
Bahia Asuncion for just over a week.
We crossed at San Ysidro at 5:00am, picked up our FMTs (bank was open this time), and were in Bahia Asuncion about 6:30pm. The drive was uneventful
and little to no traffic. The road from Vizcaino to BA was in relatively good shape. We quickly unpacked and walked down to Chemo's for a few hot
dogs.
Gabriel was so excited to hang out with his amigo Luis and I enjoyed showing David around. We spent most evenings talking with our neighbors.
Weather was great with temps in the upper 70s and water temps in the low 70s. There were a number of campers and tourists in and around town during
our stay.
The fisherman were excited with the season so far with lots of yellowtail, bonita, and halibut. Also, lobster season opened while we were in town and
most felt optimistic about the season.
My highlight of the trip was finally attending a Mexican circus. We had a blast and enjoyed the show. The following day, we attended a birthday
party and most of the circus performers were in attendance. Really cool!
We returned via San Ysidro last night about 6:00pm with a 30 minute wait. All in all another great trip although a week is too short to really relax
and get "in the Baja" mindset.

Next up we're going to camp at Playa San Rafael for a few days before Thanksgiving and then to our place for Dia del Pavo.
Enjoy!
Zac

Great pictures Bajaboy. I have a 5 year old and his name is Gabriel too. Thank you for sharing the magic of your trip. Personally, I am not quite
ready to let my husband take off with Gabriel without me

Thanks for the report Zac. Good to see the 24/7 bank teller awake to take your FM-M dinero.
Tell us about the BSC state border inspection? Did they examin your FM-Ms either or both directions... spray for bugs too?

Blanca...one of these trips...as I expected my buddy Dave decided he would rather chill in Asuncion rather than do the side trip. As for the "snake"
take a closer look as it's seaweed. I got Gabriel pretty good on the beach and decided it might make for some good entertainment at the casita....and
it did.
DK-in my last experience getting FMT, it was the immigration guys who said the bank office was closed and not taking payments....not that the bank guy
was asleep. Crossing south into BCS, we were asked for 20 pesos for spray. I said no, 10 pesos. The guy smiled and handed me my receipt which also
said 10 pesos. We were not asked for papers and I can't recall the last time I was asked...maybe 6 years ago.
DianaT-Miguel had clients out fishing when he caught the fish so I assume they took most of the fish. But I can say this is the first time I have
eaten fish that had bones as big as a chicken. Very tasty for sure. From what I heard from Juan, it might have been the biggest mero caught in BA.

Great photos Zack, thanks for sharing, it's like being there again...
We have only made one week long trip to Bahia Asuncion while staying at Juan and Shari's Beach House but had a very relaxing and also adventurous time
there. We were treated very well by our hosts and through the photos you and others have posted in the 5 years since we have been there the town has
really grown.
Definetly a go back location!
Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Thanks Zac. The pixs made me want to head south now. I know what you mean about year round school, my kids (many years ago) were also in year round
and we did vacations while others were in school.

Sounds like a great trip - nice post - So you drove to Asuncion in one day - about 13.5 hours? We will be there in a couple of weeks - we take 2 days
- stay in Catavina first night . Any last minute suggestions for our trip ?.
