dog in heat

Our Australian Shepherd was a real trooper during the three hot months we just spent at Playa El Burro. Other than running at break neck speed to get over the scorching hot sand to get to the shade didn't seem to mind it. We brushed her right before leaving El Burro two days ago and again this morning. We're heading to Colorado so she'll need to regrow all the hair she lost at the beach!!

I've always thought we should save my collie Winston's hair piles and make a pillow from them. We brought him from California to La Paz almost a year ago, and he is still shedding strong!

Many years ago a friend had a Kees hound that shed a HUGE amount of hair. On a lark, he had another friend spin the hair into wool and knit it into a winter cap.

It turned out well and looked good. Only problem, when it got wet from snow/rain, it smelled just like a WET dog!!!!

He decided to pass on making a sweater .....
