Anyone driven Hwy 5 last couple days????

Getting ready to head out in couple weeks through San felipe south. . Hows the construction looking to Chapala junction? How's this road going to be during any rain storm? What's weather like this time of the year in the area? I'll be carrying chains for front wheel drive because of need to cross over snow passes in northern California just in cast into Oregon. sometimes they have been known to be called mud chains. The car is 2 wheel drive.
