Volaris Shuttle From Tijuana Airport To San Diego Airport?
Can anyone confirm if Volaris Airlines is still providing a shuttle bus from the Tijuana Airport and the San Diego Airport?
If not, can anyone suggest another method to get from one airport to the other?

I would check on their website as it is not always running. I believe you can prebook the shuttle. Last spring our Volaris flight was late arriving to
Tijuana and because of that we had the choice of waiting for 2 hours at the airport for the next shuttle or taking a cab from the taxi stand outside
the airport to San Diego (pay there, not at your destination).
We chose option 2 which of course was not as simple as you might think. The taxi dropped us off at the border where we crossed on foot into the USA.
He then went through the border and drove to the usa side of the foot crossing to pick us up. All this at 10:30 at night. Standing on the deserted
street with all our luggage for half an hour wondering if he would show up wasn't any fun... Low and behold he did show up and we got to San Diego in
one piece, but what a lot of stress for a seemingly simple journey....

I'm pretty sure the Volaris shuttle (Crucero bus) only goes to the Greyhound depot on Broadway. Price = $15.00. You'd have to take a bus/cab to the
airport.
There is another door-to-door option: Transporte Terrestre: http://taxisairport.com/eng/index.htm
You pay for the van (accomodates about 6-7 people) and from TJ airport to my house in North Park it's $70.00.
I use them often if I'm going with a group or taking my elderly mother, just for the convenience factor.

Alan - I agree with Dana. The shuttle goes back and forth between the TJ airport and the downtown San Diego bus station on Broadway. I don't think
it's very far to the SD airport from the bus station, so a taxi shouldn't cost too much.
Even though there is a special bus lane at the border, if there are other buses in line in front of you, you could have a bit of a wait there. Last
time I took the shuttle we had a good 45-minute wait before we could get off the bus to get in line to go through immigration and customs. You'll
probably want to allow for that possibility in your schedule.

There is a city bus that will get you right from the SD bus station to both terminals at the airport....they're used to luggage on that route!

Make sure you check your arrival time and compare it to the Crucero schedule. I think they have a 9:30 bus and an 11:30 bus. As stated above, if your
plane arrives late you may have to wait a couple hours.
No matter what, its a little hinky crossing the border on foot in the dark of the evening. At least the bus drops you off right at the door to the
line and the wait is not long. You end up in a longer line if you take a taxi. But often in the later evening, the walk-up line is minimal. Our
daughter crossed last week after a Volaris flight and there was no line after the taxi dropped her at Otay. Still I was worried about her walking
across after dark etc.
Another option to the Crucero bus is taxi to San Ysidro crossing and trolly to downtown and taxi to SD airport.
On another Volaris note. Our girl's flight was cancelled last week due to fog in TJ. Luckily she got us on the phone before we were out of range and
we went back and got her for another night at our casa. IT was pretty much chaos at the airport with all the people trying to figure out what the hell
they were going to do since they were stranded. And Volaris was no help with transportation or hotels etc. Chrystal was lucky to be at the front of
the line and got on the next day's flight.
No b-tchin\' in the Baja.

My suggestion is to drive to Otay and leave your car in one of the lots, walk across the border, and take a taxi for $10. I've been very happy with
this place http://www.otaymesaparking.com/
but have friends that are happy with others.

ABSOLUTELY the best method. $7/day and the lot is SECURE!
edit: don't forget to tip your driver to and fro the parking lot to the border. he takes pesos and i had some left over to give him.
