Baja Governor has a stimulus plan
Written by George Gale
Monday, 09 January 2012 11:21
(Baja Governor announces stimulus campaign)…The goal is to create 49,000 new jobs.
Governor Jose Guadalupe Osuna Millan announced the plan Sunday. Under the unprecedented public works program, the state would invest almost $474
million on projects, large and small. They include reconstructing the agricultural canal system in rural Mexicali, that was destroyed by the 2010
earthquake. Constructing a dam in Tecate and completing a convention center for Tijuana and Rosarito. About $94 million would be used to create about
10,000 new jobs by stimulating the growth of small and medium sized businesses in the state. Other jobs would be created through private investment.
Under the plan, the jobs would be created during 2012.

Again, let us all hope this is not just hype. These people need work and customers badly!

568 million P's = 41.3 million dollars. Not a lot of money for such big plans, but good luck.

How do you know the figures given are pesos? Maybe the writer changed the amounts given in his source information to dollars. And it's unclear if the
94 is in addition to the 474 or part of it.
Not very carefully written, when I read it I thought it said a total of 474 million dollars.

Mexicans in Mexico, especially those in public office, have that pesky habit of referring to their coin of the realm as Pesos, and any reporter from
an El Centro newspaper who took it upon himself to arbitrarily take away that honor would find himself out of the loop in short order.
It's just a bad habit of border zone periodicals to be unclear on money issues across the line. They just assume the reading public knows what
they're trying to say.

$568 Million simply does not exist and is far beyond any Governor to raise. A half billion dollars? nope. Even $41 Million is a lot... but for
labor use, given the piddly daily wage- many jobs can be created. jmo

I was just thinking the same thing. 1/2 billion is a lot of money for BC. You and DENNIS are probably correct.
Lousy reporting.
