Border Xing with Dirtbikes

Quick question. I will be driving my truck from Canada to my condo in San Jose Del Cabo in June and want to bring my two dirtbikes with me(mine and my Sons).

Do I need two people in the truck when I pass the border? I have read that you do and also that it doesnt matter. And if I do need two people, maybe somebody needs a ride?

My kid is in grade 10 and will still be in school so he cant do the road trip with me.

I took two bikes down a couple of years ago and they didn't have a problem with it. Coming back the US agent asked about it but was OK since they were both in my name. If you have the papers in order I think you are OK. Just tell em your son is flying down to meet you.

No problem as long as you have registration or ownership documents in your name for both bikes.

Agreed, but as others have said, make sure you have any and all paperwork that you can take with you. And, don't forget if you have a trailer of any kind, have the registration on that as well.

I was turned back because I didn't have my registration with me.

You must have the registration papers, the Pink slip won't do it. My kid has a KX450R that has never been registered because it was only ridden on a motocross track and I had not registered my CR500 for years. They wanted registration only and all we had were pinks. So they opened the gate and sent us into northbound side traffic, kicking us out.

Thanks everyone. i will make sure i have all the paperwork. both bikes are in my name, one is a KTM 530 EXCR so has road plates. if they do stop me for only having one person in the truck but two bikes, i guess i will just grab a hotel and find somebody for a free ride across the border..lol

Cheers,
