Roadworks complete on the Mexicali-San Felipe highway

The Mexicali- San Felipe road is "finished". When I drove down from Mexicali last week all the paving was complete and there was not a single diversion into the desert. Only the ominous presence of idle construction machinery in off-road staging areas makes me wonder what mayhem could return.

Old people are like the old cars, made of some tough stuff. May show a little rust, but good as gold on the inside.

It is hardly complete. There is still 30 more miles to go. They just finished the portions that they started...

We saw them shooting elevations and putting in grade markers in and around La Ventana this past Friday. On Monday there was a single Backhoe digging what looked like sample footings every 1/4 mile or so just North of La Ventana so something is going to happen soon.

Haven't had a bad trip yet....

Enjoy it while you can. It seems whenever they 'finish' a road they go back to the start and tear it up again to fix the shoddy work. For the past three years I have seen this activity on Rt 1, the Scenic road.

McFezzy Wig

You have been gone far to long.

The road has been ready since December. We didn't get the truck dirty coming back Jan 1.

Just got back, again, last night and it was smooth sailing, I just keep waiting for them to start ripping up the road again, but probably not 'til after Easter.

Yup, on New Years Eve, there was a short detour along the Laguna Salada mud flats, and 5 days later there were no detours all the way back to Mexicali.
