camping at Puerto Chale

Has anyone camped at Puerto Chale recently?

Cleaner and less crowded than Cancun?

Possible to find a few clams (if it were legal, of course)?

Any other suggestions in the area?

Thanks. John

We went to Puerto Chale last February and were horrified at how dirty it was and the road in was all wash board. And we are from San Nicolas ! ! !

Fishing Mexican friends who live there say this is the worst time to go for the wind blown garbage and stuff all over. They say it is much better in the summer and fall.

The friends said this last December that there is supposed to be electricity put in and the road paved.

I drove by the turn off last week and didn't see any signs of road or CFE equipment but maybe .. . .

But unless they can get the people who live there to clean up alot, it is the very first on my list of places to never visit again.

That said, I have to commend the fishermen at the fish camp side of the estuary (north) . . . they have really cleaned up their area, built houses, wash houses, bathrooms. One house - yes house even has sheet rock walls. That camp is really nice now - and they haul their waste off the beach. However, there is a shark jaw cleaning lagoon to the rear of the camp that is a little smelly.

And the beach on the south side of the estuary where Terry's palapa and camp ground is - is barely usable for fish debris from a local non co-op fisherman, who will not clean up after himself.
