Road between La Purisma and Comondu - Passable?
Does anyone know if the road between La Purisma/San Isidro and Comondu has been repaired? We tried this road in 2010 and it was virtually impassable
on the Comondu end. We will be heading to the area in April of this year. Any input is helpful.

Welcome to Nomads Blair.
It depends on what you're driving. If you are on a mule or dirt bike yes, anything else probably not. motoged and I rode that route on dual sport
bikes last year and made it.....sorta....dt

Doesnt seem like its changed much since the last time I was over it in a Suzi Sami Smart thing then was to turn around, same reason kept us
going..Some things never change...

On a dirt bike if you are a good rider maybe. Otherwise, not a good idea. Since the new paved road from the west side goes almost all the way up there
they don't maintain the road to La Purisima at all.

Thanks for you comments! - very helpful. dtbushpilot, the pics in your thread link is the route exactly the way we found it in 4/10, so I guess
nothing has changed.
Ok so heres another question: What about the road between San Javier and Comondu? Better? We may want to hit Comondu from Loreto on the return trip
north if possible and then we can proceed west from Comondu to BCS 53.

I remember that as being doable, from a couple of years ago...details are fuzzy tho..Then back out to Pancho Villa right? Could be wrong..Too many bad
roads will do that to ya..

I hear the road from San Javier up to Comundu is passable but pretty rough, no - very rough. The road from Comundu to Pancho Villa is in excellent
condition.

I just ran this road last week and its a 4WD only road ... just for the climbs up the loose shale rocky 2500 foot hill climb from the bottom of the
valley. About 8 switchbacks or so up one of the climbs. We were in a built up 2012 Toyota Tundra with 35 inch tires and FOX Shox and we cruised and
had a great day trip coming from San Juanico to Loreto for fun.
